The Sea Lion Oasis

Sea lions are very friendly and do not swim away from or attack people. Some are very curious and even swim closer to you to pull your hair when they see you under the water.

Come and meet our sea lions to see how they sunbathe at the sandy or rocky beach while diving into the water to hunt fish.

The Sea Lion Beach

When the weather is nice, sea lions lie down on the sandy beach to leisurely sunbathe. The beach is a precious place for them to raise babies and bond with other family members. Fully rested, sea lions then go back in the ocean to feed themselves.

Species of Sea Lions

Sea lions and seals are called pinnipeds, which means fin or flipper-footed.

There are 14 different kinds in the sea lion family. Among them, Californian sea lions live in the western coast of North America, while South American sea lions live in the coastal area of South America.

Adult male sea lions have a mane around their neck, just like a lion. This is why they are called sea "lions". They live on a sandy or rocky beach. During the breeding season, they form groups, or "harems", that includes a male and 20-30 females for reproduction. Females usually have one pup at a birth.
